Pedaling so Children Can Leave the Mines and Return to School
Dan’s 6th Annual Bike-A-Thon — Six Years, Six Causes, One Mission: Delivering Better Lives

Children in India’s mica mines are trapped in a harsh reality. Instead of going to school, they spend their days underground, digging for the mineral that makes cosmetics shimmer and electronics work. Cuts, broken bones, and lung disease are part of their daily reality. Behind the shine of mica lies the suffering of children robbed of safety, play, and education.
This year’s Bike-A-Thon has one clear goal: to raise $17,500 to purchase 300 bicycles for children in India’s mica mining communities. Each bicycle means a child can safely reach school every day instead of being forced into the mines. It is not just a ride to school — it is a path to freedom, education, and dignity.
For the sixth year in a row, our board member Dan Krassenstein has returned to the Bike-A-Thon, taking on the challenge of riding 2,000 km (1,243 miles). He has already begun his journey and personally donated $2,500 to kick off the campaign.
Now, it’s our turn. Together, we can ensure that hundreds of children exchange the darkness of mines for the light of classrooms, where they can learn, grow, and dream again.
